IN BLOOM Artists Award Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.

Mindy’s “Butterflies are Free to Fly” won Second Place honors.

The IN BLOOM Garden Art Sculpture Event at Oakbrook Center is a public garden art exhibit that will benefit the HCS Family Services. Sculptures will be on display May through August ending with the Gala Art Auction on September 24th.

Five pieces were awarded for artistic achievement and “Love 2” was one of them.

Tattoo Artists

Some of my favorite kinds of Artists are Tattoo Artists. I love the free and easy going spirit of the ones that I have met. Spending an afternoon in a Tattoo parlor is always a trip. What a fun and uplifting experience. It’s no wonder that just 1 Tattoo is never enough.

In 2009 I designed a turtle with butterfly wings in honor of my dad. I lost him in 2007 to cancer.

Dedicated to my dad

The title of my sculpture is “Butterflies are Free to Fly”. This is a line taken from the Elton John song “Someone Saved My Life Tonight”. My design includes a butterfly wearing funky “Elton John like” glasses and playing a piano made of flowers. There are also backup singers and butterflies having a picnic while watching the show.

Spring 2011

Painting a sculpture for the 2011 “IN BLOOM” exhibit in Oakbrook. The sculptures will be on display from May thru September and then auctioned off for charity.
